Empowering young women and men in Ethiopia to become well-trained, innovative professionals in the realm of digital technology, with access to employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in the competitive landscape, is a collective effort that requires a comprehensive approach. This undertaking involves focusing on various strategic aspects, including education, skill development, mentorship, and the creation of a supportive ecosystem.

The DEMERA initiative is firmly established with the aim of advancing digital education and reforming the educational landscape to ensure inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunities. At the core of DEMERA's vision is the belief in education as the foundation for positive socio-economic change. This vision aligns with the perspective that digital tools hold the potential to significantly enhance the impact of education. DEMERA's central focus revolves around enabling and supporting digital education.

In May 2023, we had the privilege of visiting Wollo University, where we gained valuable insights into the aspirations and determination of these exceptional students. Drawing from our expertise and understanding of the prevailing market demands in cloud technology, we are extending our reach beyond Addis Ababa, specifically to Kombolcha – an industrial hub. Our intention is to foster inclusivity and provide equal opportunities to university students.

DEMERA recognizes the need to empower young women

Concurrently, within the Ethiopian ICT ecosystem, we observe a glaring lack of active participation by young women professionals. Among those who do engage, some may be hesitant to step into the spotlight. DEMERA recognizes the need to empower young women by granting them access to high-quality education in fields related to technology. This approach not only integrates them into the digital era but also addresses the gender gap within technology-related industries.

This collaboration extends beyond university students

In our ongoing pursuit of practical collaboration, we are forging partnerships with technology and educational companies. This collaboration extends beyond university students to encompass individuals who are seeking guidance, second chances, and new avenues. One pivotal objective is identifying university graduates who face challenges in securing employment, with a specific focus on assisting women who had to interrupt their studies due to life circumstances. Through a comprehensive training regimen that encompasses MS Office applications, effective communication, and the development of soft skills, we are dedicated to creating new opportunities and enriching their professional horizons.


Our overarching aspiration involves teaming up with a minimum of 1000 trainers. We propose a pilot phase to kickstart this endeavor, involving the training of 100 individuals. Among these, 20-30 participants will evolve into future trainers themselves, while the remaining 70-80 students will benefit from the initial phase of training.
